Luis Enrique clearly stated the importance of the Copa final against Alavés: “It will be a special match as it is an opportunity to end with a trophy. We are excited about having the chance to win such an important competition and end my time in charge with another trophy.” On the subject of his imminent departure he stated, “the most important thing is that the team plays well.”

The Asturian coach assured the assembled media that his team are in good form: “In the last few weeks, as we have only played once a week the team is in a good place physically and mentally.” The final could end in Barça winning their third Copa del Rey in succession under Luis Enrique. However, he warned his team that they “need to be ready for any situation, Alavés are on a good run and they are this season’s surprise package.”

On Alavés, the coach added that they have “had an excellent season, they are very intense and they use the long ball to Dyverson and the wingers well. Also, they press well and are impressive in the transitions.” When asked about absences ahead of the final at the Vicente Calderón, Luis Enrique said, “we have lots of options and they are all good as we have quality players in all the positions.” Finally, he concluded: “It will be an open game and we hope it is a great final and that the best team wins.”
