FCB Universitas and ISDE promote a master's degree in sports law

Some of the lessons from this course designed to educate the future professionals in this field will be carried out at FC Barcelona's offices

On Thursday at the Camp Nou the master's in sports law, which FC Barcelona and the Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economia (ISDE) have organised, was launched as a part of the FCB Universitas Sport Innovation Hub project. The presentation was attended by the President of the Club, Josep Maria Bartomeu; the President of ISDE, Josep Joan Pintó Ruiz; and the Dean and Executive Director for International and Comparative Law Programs of Columbia University, Adam Kolker.

This master's is designed to prepare future professionals who want to develop their career in law and sports management in an international setting, within a context of excellence. The master's is being taught by expert academics and professionals from institutions such as FIFA, UEFA, TAS, COI, WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency), LFP, RFEF, as well as from a long list of firms dedicated to sports law. The students will work with these institutions to develop professionally during the course.

ISDE

The Institut Superior de Dret i Economia (ISDE) was founded in 1995 by Alejandro Pintó. His founding principle was academic excellence in the context of a practical application of this knowledge with an international focus. ISDE is world renowned and the Financial Times rated the institute as the best in Spain, third in Europe and fourth worldwide in the number of programmes referenced due to their excellence. The Wall Street Journal also spoke positively about them. Currently, ISDE offers, among other courses, master's degrees in sports management and sports law from their campuses in Madrid, Barcelona and New York, with collaboration from Columbia University and the University of Cambridge. They are now also working with FC Barcelona here in the Catalan capital. ISDE is a leader in the areas of sports management and sports law but is also renowned for its courses in other areas of law and economics.

FCB Universitas

FCB Universitas, Sport Innovation Hub is the project whose objective is projecting and sharing the knowledge generated at the Club. Its mission is to create a centre recognised worldwide in R + D; the generation and transmission of knowledge; innovation in the sporting sector; and collaboration with the best brands and the most prestigious professionals. The key areas are medical services, performance, technology, team sports, and social sciences.

On 13 October, Dr Jordi Monés, the Director and Commissioner of FCB Universitas, Sport Innovation Hub, presented the project to the media and other guests at Barça's recently opened offices in New York.

FCB Universitas, Sport Innovation Hub, in addition to working with ISDE and Columbia University on a course in sports law, is negotiating with other well-known universities to develop new courses to keep fulfilling the project's mission.
