FC Barcelona and the Uruguyan striker reach an agreement that will keep him at the Club for four more seasons
FC Barcelona announce that they have reached an agreement with Luis Suárez for the extension of the player’s contract until 30 June 2021. The player signed his contract extension this afternoon at the Club Offices.
The buy-out clause in the contract is set at €200m.
The signing was attended by the President, Josep Maria Bartomeu; the Director, Javier Bordas; the Executive Director and CEO, Òscar Grau; the Director of Professional Sports, Albert Soler and the technical secretary, Robert Fernández.
Suárez, to continue with Barça
The Uruguayan star was overjoyed with his contract extension when he spoke to Barça TV: “I am very happy, it is what I wanted and what the club wanted so I feel enormously satisfied.” Barça's number '9' added that the extension was “a recognition from the club of the work I am doing.” Suárez spoke of his pride as “playing for Barça week in week out is special and I hope to keep being able to enjoy this and win many more titles.”
He already has some fantastic memories of his time here in Barcelona, especially of “the titles won as a team and the goals which helped get the points and win those titles.” Finally, the striker ended saying that “the humility in the team makes you want to work even harder” which is a good sign for the years to come.
