Barça Women - Madrid CFF: Bàrbara's rout (7-0)

Fran Sánchez's girls dominated the game from beginning to end with Latorre the star performer scoring four goals and giving three assists

Barça Women will continue at the top of the Liga Iberdrola for another week after completely dominating Madrid CFF throughout their 7-0 victory. The visitors, who debuted in the League this season, were unable to get a foothold in the match at any point. Goals came from Martens, Andonova, Duggan and four from Bàrbara, who also weighed in with three assists.

Great offensive effectiveness

Bussaglia was superb in midfield for the hosts in the opening 45, but it was Martens and Bàrbara Latorre that took the game out of the visitors’ reach by half time. The first goal arrived quickly after Bàrbara crossed to a lethal Martens. The roles were reversed on 16 minutes as Barça Women went further ahead, and the total possession from Fran Sanchez’s team meant that a third goal was never far away. Both Martens and Bárbara combined to allow Andonova to score into an empty goal (min 34).

In the second half, Barça based their game on more midfield control, forcing Madrid to push up and, consequently, to leave spaces in behind. Bárbara was able to extend the advantage just after the hour with her second, and Barça’s fourth, whilst Duggan would finish a great move just six minutes later, courtesy of another Bárbara assist (72).

Two late goals from Bárbara underscored an incredible personal and team performance which leaves Barça Women unbeaten and on the same points as Atlético Madrid. On Sunday they will face Granadilla.
