A win for the Barça basketball team at the Palacio de los Deportes in Murcia. They have taken a first step forward in these quarterfinals, which now move to Palau Blaugrana. Brizuela had a great second quarter to take the blaugranas towards the win (68-91). This first point away is a big boost for the decisive game at home, where a victory on 4 June against UCAM Múrcia will see Barça through the ACB play-offs.

After a slow start UCAM Murcia and Barça exchanged baskets and the lead, going from 10-5 (min 5) to 14-16 (min 9) thanks to players such as Juani Marcos and Jan Vesely, but there was still a long way to go to secure the first point.

Blaugrana number eight comes to the fore

Brizuela quelled any optimism for the home side in the second quarter, as his triples and assists propelled the visitors to +17 with one minute to go until halftime. It began with a triple to make it 16-19, before the lead extended after the blaugranes scored 13 unanswered points (21-32, min 15).

Defensive prowess also played a big part, stopping any reaction from the side from Murcia. There was a slight dip when it went 26-32 (min 16) before the number eight came back with more triples, with 67% accuracy plus three assists in the quarter.

Visitors in control

The lead was +19 at the start of the third. UCAM Murcia and their fans tried to rally but the blaugranes snuffed it out, going to 39-59 (min 26). They were managing to score baskets, but Barça kept finding a way to match them (52-66).

The blaugranes were solid and UCAM Murcia could do little to stop the score going to +24 (54-78, min 33), aided by good work from Clyburn. It was just a question of time until the first point was won, and the home side ended up seeing the lead move to +29 before a final score of 68-91.

So, a big step for Barça and now time to finish the job at the Palau Blaugrana, with more effort needed to build on the good start. Time for another win on 4 June at 7.00pm CEST
