The US Barça Foundation, established in 2024 and which launched its first socio‑sports project for adolescent girls in the Bronx (NYC), has started its second initiative on U.S. soil—another step in expanding its actions to benefit children and youth at social risk in several U.S. cities. In collaboration with Fútbol Con Corazón USA (FCC), and with the goal of expanding access to youth development through sport for boys and girls in situations of social and family vulnerability in Miami‑Dade, the implementation of a new project entitled “Goals That Matter, Legacies That Last” has begun.

This collaboration is designed to transform the lives of more than 500 young people across Miami‑Dade County during the 2025–2026–2027 cycle. The initiative combines the global reach of the US Barça Foundation and its proprietary socio‑educational and sports methodology, SportNet, with FCC USA’s local operational expertise and proven pedagogical model, with the objective of strengthening the emotional and social well‑being of under‑resourced communities.

In Miami‑Dade, the hours between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. represent the most vulnerable time for children and youth, as many are unsupervised and lack access to positive mentors or safe spaces. While high‑quality after‑school soccer programs are often a luxury reserved for those with financial means, this project removes those barriers. The initiative offers free, recreational, and transformative soccer programs for children in vulnerable communities, turning critical hours into opportunities for growth and engagement.

With the aim of optimizing the physical, mental, and emotional well‑being of young participants and preventing the social isolation of many newly arrived children, inclusive environments are created where friendship, teamwork, and social interaction are promoted. By leveraging soccer’s power to convene, the initiative fosters active participation and uses sport as a vehicle to develop leadership skills and positive citizenship, through the methodologies of both organizations.

Key Pillars of the Program

Transformative methodologies.
Through the use of SportNet from the US Barça Foundation and “The Power of the Game” from FCC USA, the program helps youth transition from social and family trauma to achievement, fostering relational intelligence and life skills that extend far beyond the playing field.
Youth leadership and paid internships.
The project certifies adolescents as youth leaders through a paid internship program, empowering them to serve as local mentors to younger children in their own neighborhoods.
Family and community engagement.
To strengthen social bonds, the initiative includes Family Community Soccer Days. These events provide parents and caregivers with a space to play and have fun, directly promoting greater parental involvement and stronger family foundations.
Comprehensive support system.
Coaches act as mentors and referral liaisons, connecting participants with essential resources such as housing, food security, and free counseling services through a network of local partners.

Building a Long‑Term Legacy

“Goals That Matter, Legacies That Last” focuses on areas of greatest need where economic barriers often limit youth opportunities, including Homestead, Doral, and Downtown Miami. Beyond athletic training, the program tracks measurable impact. Globally, 93% of FCC youth report increased socio‑emotional skills, and 74% show improved school attendance.
