If there is one hallmark of Hansi Flick’s Barça, it is goals. And that is nothing new: last season the team already broke several scoring records. Even so, there were still a few milestones left to reach, and this campaign the blaugrana have already added another notable one. Thanks to the 5–2 win over Sevilla at Spotify Camp Nou, Barça have now scored in each of the first 28 La Liga fixtures, something that had not happened since the 2012/13 season, when the team found the net in every single match of the league campaign.
In fact, the blaugrana have also recently surpassed the mark set in 1991/92, when Barça scored in the first 27 league games, accumulating a total of 57 goals.
The 2012/13 streak
The 2012/13 season was exceptional. Barça were crowned league champions with 100 points and 115 goals scored. By the 28th game that year, the team had already racked up 88 goals, an average of 3.14 per game. This season the numbers are slightly lower but still impressive: 77 goals in 28 matchdays, an average of 2.75 per match.
Hard to beat
Although the feat of the 2012/13 campaign still remains some distance away, the current Barça side is moving in the right direction. In fact, in recent seasons the team had fallen well short of these figures. In 2019/20, 2022/23 and 2023/24, for example, Barça failed to score on the opening matchday of the league. The closest they came in recent years was in 2017/18 and 2018/19, when the team scored in the first 22 fixtures before their streak finally came to an end.
