On Saturday 31 January, a gala lunch marked the 40th anniversary of the Penya Barcelonista Alcoiana, attended by of the Vice-President of FC Barcelona responsible for the Social Area, Antonio Escudero; the President of the FC Barcelona Players Group, Juan Manuel Asensi; and former players and members of the Board of Directors of the same organisation, José Joaquín Albadalejo and Félix Palomares.

The Barça delegation was welcomed to the PB Alcoiana clubhouse, where the Doctor of Fine Arts and professor of urban painting Josep Sou delivered the opening address of the 10th Meeting of FC Barcelona Penyes in Alicante. A commemorative plaque marking the 40th anniversary of the PB Alcoiana was also unveiled.

The President of the PB Alcoiana, Juan Ramon Juan, gave the welcoming speech. Speeches were also delivered by the President of the Association of FC Barcelona Penyes in Alicante, Francisco Baile; by Juan Manuel Asensi himself; and the Mayor of Alcoi, Antonio Francés. Antonio Escudero gave the closing speech.

Before the meal, which was held at the Filà Llana restaurant in Alcoi, gifts were presented. Around two hundred people attended the lunch and, as is customary, the commemorative cake was cut and a group photograph was taken.
