So far this season at FC Barcelona summer signing Joan Garcia has been one of the standout performers for Hansi Flick's team. His saves have earned the team valuable points and one such stop, a spectacular effort in the Catalan derby away from home against Espanyol, has been voted save of the month for January by La Liga.

One handed save

Joan Garcia's award winning effort came in the 38th minute of the game in the RCDE Stadium. A cross from the left by Carlos Romero was met by  the head of Espanyol striker Pere Milla inside the six yard box. The ball seemed destined to end in the back of the but no-one inside the stadium or watching on television could have predicted the stunning one handed reflex save to tip the ball over the bar from the Barça goalkeeper. The stop was vital in allowing Barça to take a 2-0 victory against their in form rivals.

It is the second time that Barça's Catalan keeper has won save of the month, the first coming for another brilliant stop away from home against Rayo Vallecano in August. Since arriving at the club in the summer of 2025, Joan Garcia has shown his worth by keeping eight clean sheets in 11 matches so far in La Liga.
