Coach Hansi Flick looked a very happy man in the post-match press conference after the win in Europe against Olympiacos. He explained that the win “was very important when it comes to the game on Sunday”, while warning there is no time to celebrate because “the team has to recover quickly and start preparation”.

A deserved win

Hansi Flick believes that the triumph was deserved and beyond the sporting feat itself, he wanted to highlight that the number of goals and the attitude from the team being particularly important when it comes to the rest of the week ahead, stating that “The result gives us confidence, but scoring six goals is also very good for us”.

Fermín takes centre stage

He spared no expense when it came to giving out praise, especially for Fermín, who as well as putting in a super performance today, scored his first professional hat-trick, with the coach going on to say “Fermín put in a great performance. Three goals, the first was very important to open the scoring. He is a player who has everything – he is dynamic and we also need his speed”.

He also mentioned Lamine Yamal. The player has put his medical issues behind him and performed well, something that Flick confirmed, stating “He has no problems. We saw a great Lamine today and we will see his version in big games on Sunday too”.

El Clásico the next challenge

Hansi is aware that the Clásico is one of the most important games of the season for FC Barcelona fans. The blaugranes achieved great results last season, but he wanted to emphasise that what happened last year is now in the past by saying “Last year was incredible, but we are now faced with a different situation. I am positive and I think we can win in Madrid. We have a good team and we may have a player back”.

The result is yet to be decided, but the German coach is clear that Barça will have to give everything, stating “We need all the players at the highest level. (Real) Madrid are a great team and we will have to fight”.
