Delight for the Barça basketball team in their first home game of the season in the Palau Blaugrana as they took a 108-102 victory over Valencia Basket in week 3 of the Euroleague.
Bright start and Valencia fightback
After an absence of four months at the Palau, Barça came out highly motivated and quickly took control of the game with a strong start, led by standout performances from Willy Hernangómez, Clyburn, and Shengelia. Valencia struggled early but recovered by hitting three consecutive three-pointers. Despite Barça’s dominance, a late three-pointer from Moore closed the gap, ending the first quarter with a close score of 26–25
Despite Valencia's seven unanswered points to open the second quarter, Barça regained control of the game in an end to end battle that lasted the full 40 minutes. Valencia went ahead at 42-41 for the first time in the contest and at half time they led by a point at 49-48.
Offensive festival
The second half continued the attacking spectacle, delighting the Barça fans at the Palau. Thanks to Punter and Clyburn, Barça regained a 10 point lead at 69-59 though the advantage was cut to 78-75 by the visitors going into the final quarter.
All smiles at the Palau
Valencia turned the game around with seven straight points from Darius Thompson, forcing Barça to step up once again. Satoransky, in leadership mode, sparked a comeback with a three-pointer, followed by Punter’s accuracy and Cale’s energy, leading to a run of eight unanswered points. Vesely added a crucial three-pointer, and Brizuela hit a difficult one as Barça tried to prevent the game from slipping away. Punter proved vital again as Barça held on to take the win and go 2-1 in the Euroleague with a their next game coming in the Endesa League against Hiopos Lleida on Sunday, also in the Palau.
It was high-quality basketball and a perfect way to kick off the season at the Palau, putting Barça at 2–1 in the EuroLeague. Next, they’ll face at home in the Liga Endesa (Sunday, 12:15 PM), aiming for their first domestic win.
