It wasn't to be. A late Diego Percan goal sealed the three points, but Barça Atlètic have been relegated despite this 2-1 win against Unionistas de Salamanca at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on the final matchday of the Primera Federación season.

Good start

Sergi Milà's side dominated from the outset in terms of both possession and chances, Pedro Soma heading a great opportunity wide after six minutes. Winger Jan Virgili was proving a real threat but no one managed to get on the end of his balls in from the right.

Tough blow before the break

A Cortés long shot after 30 minutes went close, but the pace of the game began to drop, with a lot of blaugrana possession but with few real chances of note. It looked like the score would remain goalless at half time, but Gorka Santamaría finished a cross to make it 0-1 (min 45+2) with the visitors' first real chance of note.

Godoy restores parity

Astralaga prevented a second for the visitors after the break and this seemed to wake up the blaugranes. Then when Toni Fernández was upended on the edge of the area, up stepped Alan Godoy to score a tremendous goal to tie the score, and the miracle was back on with more than 20 minutes still left to play.

So near but so far

Sergi Milà's side pressed for the winner and when Ourense scored against Osasuna Promesas, the three scorelines Barça Atlètic needed to stay up were in place. Percan then completed the comeback on his return after a long time on the sidelines finishing a super Raúl Dacosta cross (2-1, min 89) to send the Estadi Johan Cruyff wild. The blaugranes were momentarily staying up.

No further goals in the game and all was set fair, but Osasuna Promesas equalised against Ourense in added time, and there was no more that Barça Atlètic could do to avoid relegation, a tough end to the season having come so close.
