Hansi Flick always wins El Clásico! Four victories in his first four duels against the eternal rival. It sounds easy, but Flick’s task is anything but. Only Josep Guardiola, who won his first five Clásicos, can better that record.

The joy this season peaked with the stunning and dramatic 4-3 win, comeback included, to write the latest chapter in an amazing history that dates back to 13 May 1902.

123 years later FC Barcelona have written a new page of success—under Hansi Flick, who thus far has done nothing but win in El Clásico. And in all those years, there have been few games between Barça and Madrid that produced quite as much drama as the one we just enjoyed.

Four wins in four games against Carlo Ancelotti’s side: a chess match the German never tires of winning. It all began in a friendly that doesn’t officially count toward this tally: in New York, a Pau Víctor brace opening Flick’s record that remains untainted to this day.

Liga double

In 2024/25, Barça have won each of the four Clásicos—all under the iron will of Flick, who has consistently cut Madrid’s optimism short, whatever the circumstances. This latest victory was the lift for spirits that everyone needed after the Champions League exit. That gloom has been dispelled and has set the Liga title up on a plate.

It’s the second time Flick’s Barça have picked up three points against the all-whites in the league this season. The first was an emphatic 4-0 triumph at the Bernabéu.

Plus two cup wins

Barça not only won the league double, they also won two other hugely important Clásicos that earned them a clean sweep of domestic trophies. First the Spanish Super Cup, and then the Copa del Rey. The blaugrana confetti was first released to celebrate a commanding 5–2 win in Saudi Arabia and then came that incredible 3–2 win in Seville, with a late goal sending the game into extra time and the winner coming just in time to avoid the agony of a penalty shootout.

Guardiola, five out of five

Four our of four wins in extraordinary, but one man led the team to even better. Josep Guardiola won all five of his first games against Real Madrid from 2008 to 2010, including the iconic 6-2 win at the Santiago Bernábeu in 2009 and an amazing 5-0 rout at Camp Nou in 2010. Hansi Flick's achievements are right up there alongside the incredible Barça of that golden era.

Next time he has the chance to make it five... and how much longer can he keep it going? We can't wait to find out!
