The seven game winning streak has come to an end in Madrid as FC Barcelona lost 65-64 at the WiZink Center. After a good start, Roger Grimau's side dropped off in the middle of the game, before a final push saw them fall just short of an eighth straight victory.

Blaugranes make a good start

A lively defence saw the blaugranes make the early running, a three-pointer by Satoransky helping his side to a 6-14 lead. Only Tavares managed to score for the home side, who went into the second quarter 8-17 down after another three-pointer, this time by Abrines.

Willy Hernangómez was all over the court at the WiZink Center, and the lead extended to +14 (16-30) in the second quarter. The game was being watched by potential protagonists of the second El Clásico of the week at Montjuïc, namely Bellingham, Vinicius and Rodrygo, and they saw Real Madrid close the gap to 28-30 at the break.

Battle to the end

The third quarter started evenly, but Real Madrid took the lead precisely when Barça didn't score for an eight minute period. This proved costly for Roger Grimau's side, but they kept battling to keep the all-whites within sight as they had a +11 lead going into the fourth.

Real Madrid extended the lead to +14, but Rokas Jokubaitis stepped up to start to redress the difference and spur on his side, who got back to 59-57 with just one minute to go. As a result, Barça kept pushing, Tomas Satoransky had the chance to force overtime, but two of his free throws failed, and ultimately, Real Madrid won by just one point. Final score 65-64 after a brave effort.
