Mascherano looks back at his time at FC Barcelona in a new episode of ‘The Album’ documentary series produced by Barça Studios

Programme premieres on Wednesday 7 October on Barça TV+, the club’s streaming platform, with the Argentinian reviewing the highlights of his time wearing the blaugrana jersey

Javier Mascherano is the star of the latest episode of The Album, the documentary series produced by Barça Studios in which the club’s greatest legends look back at footage of the time when they formed part of the FC Barcelona first team (2010-2018).

The episode featuring the Argentinian is available on demand from Barça TV+ from Wednesday 7 October and will also be shown very soon on the regular linear channel Barça TV; in Catalonia on TDT and elsewhere in Spain on subscription services.

The Album on El Jefecito is a close up and personal show in which the footballer looks back at the biggest moments from the day he arrived at Barça from Liverpool in the summer of 2010. After struggling in the first few months to adapt to the team’s style, Mascherano eventually won his place as a centre back in Guardiola’s plans, and excelled in an unfamiliar position. He is especially remembered for the Champions League knockout game against Arsenal at Camp Nou in 2011, when he made some decisive interventions that once and for all won the hearts of the supporters.

The 2012 Copa del Rey Final against Athletic Club is another game that has stuck in the defender’s memory, particularly because the team had failed to win either La Liga or the Champions League and that was going to be Guardiola’s last game in charge. Naturally, the programme also looks at 2014/15 when Luis Enrique led the team to the treble, and the 2016 Copa del Rey that Barça won despite Mascherano being sent off in the first half.

A series about Barça legends

Mascherano appears in the fifth instalment of The Album, created and produced by Barça Studios, the FC Barcelona audiovisual factory. The opening episode was all about Andrés Iniesta, and subsequent chapters have featured Jose Mari Bakero, Carles Rexach and Ronaldinho.

The show is included among what are classed as ORIGINALS, all available on the Barça TV+ platform that FC Barcelona launched on June 3.

The service is available worldwide via the club website and app, for all devices (PC, tablet, mobile and TV using cast technology), and in three languages (Catalan, Spanish and English). Users will find over 1,000 hours of content and more than 3,000 one hundred per cent Barça videos, which can all be viewed on demand.
