RIVAL WATCH: Napoli end Serie A campaign with a win
Barça's opponents in the last 16 of the Champions League defeat Lazio 3-1 at home on the final weekend of the league season
Napoli's Serie A campaign ends with a win just a week before they on Barça in the second leg of their last 16 Champions League tie at Camp Nou. Fabián Ruiz, Insigne and Politano were on the scoresheet for Gennaro Gattuso's team who ended the league campaign in seventh place in the table with a place in next season's Europa League assured after their victory in the Coppa Italia over Juventus.
As early as the eight minute of the game, Spanish midfielder Fabián Ruiz put Napoli ahead with a well taken effort. Lazio striker Ciro Immobile scored his 36th league goal of the season on 21 minutes to equalise and secure his place as top scorer in the league, equalling the Serie A record of Gonzalo Higuaín set in 2016.
In the second half a penalty from Insigne and a strike from Politano turned the game in Napoli's favour and allowed gli azzuri to warm up for their date with the blaugranes on Saturday 8 August, kick off 9.00pm CEST, with a morale boosting win. The tie currently stands at 1-1 after the first leg in Naples back in February.
