Bartomeu: 'We can be happy with the team's performance'

The Barça president highlights the team's good display against Villarreal, says the team will keep fighting for the league and criticises the way VAR is used

Josep Maria Bartomeu was more than happy with FC Barcelona's 4-1 win away at Villarreal, a victory that leaves them four points behind the leaders. "Today's win was an important one. The team played well and we can be very happy with the performance. We will keep fighting for the league until the end," said the president after the final whistle in the Estadio de la Cerámica.

The FC Barcelona president also gave his opinion on the use of VAR in the last few rounds of La Liga: "In the best league in the world, VAR is not up to it. It is not fair and it always seems to favour the same people." Bartomeu pointed out that the Club has been asking for improvements in VAR since December.

Finally, the president also made reference to rumours published in the press in recent days, assuring that Quique Setién "has the confidence of everybody" and reiterating that Leo Messi "has said on many occasions that he wants to finish his career at Barça."
