Barça Rewind: The first female employee of the club

She was a doorkeeper at the club's office building

The first female employee in Barça's history was the doorkeeper in the club's office building, at number 9, Rambla de Canaletes. The woman, a recent widow with young children, was hired by the board of Francesc de Moxó on May 4, 1914 for five pesetas a month, "for any useful work."

The eldest son of the doorkeeper was also hired as an employee, being granted a twenty-four peso advance, a very respectable amount.

Gesture

By way of comparison, on August 12, 1914, FC Barcelona formalised the appointment of Dr. Feliu Castells as its first official doctor. According to the contract, Barca paid two pesetas for each visit to the players and five for his mandatory attendance at first team matches.

The club's gesture for the doorkeeper of its social space was extraordinary.
