Barça rounded off a three-game week with a win on Sunday afternoon, besting Fuenlabrada 90-94 at the Montakit Fuenlabrada in the Liga Endesa. After an intense start for Pesic's side, the game turned into a back-and-forth encounter before Barça pulled away at the end. Abrines was the team's top scorer, racking up 18 points.
Barça were on a mission in the early stages, establishing a 12-22 lead on 10 minutes. Constant steals and rebounds kept them one step ahead of Fuenlabrada, whose response was stifled frequently. A series of 3-pointers, and an excellent contribution from Abrines made it 22-39 at the break.
Fuenlabrada stepped things up in the second quarter, and reduced the lead to 36-47 in the 20th minute. A constant exchange of scoring ran right through to the end of the third quarter, off some big time buckets from Mirotic and Delaney, and the third quarter concluded 62-75.
Control of the game was lost in the final quarter, allowing Fuenlabrada back into the game. With just 50 seconds remaining, the lead stood at just 2 points, 86-88. Thankfully, Victor Claver stepped up to hit a vital triple.
Barça could only really breathe easy after free throws from Delaney and Mirotic, ensuring a 4-point advantage that they carried over to the final buzzer.
Next up for the team is Euroleague action on Thursday, 23 January, at the Palau Blaugrana, where Barça take on Red Star.
