Messi is nominated for The Best and the Puskas Prize, Ter Stegen for the Best Goalkeeper and a total of eleven players aspire to be part of FIFA's FIFPro World11
The time has come for the annual FIFA gala, where the names of the best players of the season will be known. This Monday afternoon, at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the traditional ceremony will take place.
And as is often the case, there will be Barça representation.
Lionel Messi is nominated once again for the most important award of all: The Best. Together with Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) and Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), he will find out who the best football player of the 2018/19 campaign was at the end of the gala.
The Argentine also aspires to win the Puskas Prize, awarded for the best goal of the season. In this category, he's up against the Colombian Juan Fernando Quintero and the Hungarian Daniel Zsóri.
Marc-André ter Stegen is nominated for the Best Goalkeeper award, alongside Premier League goalkeepers Alisson Becker (Liverpool) and Ederson (Manchester City).
Both Ter Stegen and Messi are also among the 55 players that could form part of FIFA FIFPro World11, the best team of the season. Piqué, Jordi Alba, Sergio, Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, Arthur and Luis Suárez, as well as De Jong and Griezmann, who played at Ajax and Atlético Madrid respectively last season, are also in with a chance of being included.
