Leo Messi's goal in the Barça–Liverpool Champions League semifinal match has been chosen as the best goal in the competition this season. The Argentinian won the online vote, beating out the other three finalists, one of whom was Messi's teammate Ivan Rakitic, whose group stage goal against Tottenham finished third. 

Cristiano Ronaldo's goal against Manchester United was second and Arjen Robben's goal against Benfica was fourth. Messi, thus, takes the torch from Gareth Bale, who scored last season's best Champions League goal.
