Spain call up five FC Barcelona players

Valdés, Sergio, Iniesta, Cesc and Pedro, are named to Spain's squad by Del Bosque ahead of next week's friendlies

Spain will have five FC Barcelona players on the roster for the two international friendlies scheduled for next week against Equatorial Guinea and South Africa. Vicente del Bosque revealed his team this Thursday afternoon, which will feature Víctor Valdés, Sergio Busquets, Andrés Iniesta, Cesc Fàbregas and Pedro Rodríguez. The first international friendly, against Equatorial Guinea, will be played on November 16 in Malabo, and three days later Spain will face South Africa in Johannesburg.

Xavi and Piqué were not called up by the Spain manager, and therefore they will stay in Barcelona for the duration of the international break. The center back incidentally trained apart from the group this afternoon due to a knock he picked up in the match against Milan.

Song to fight for a spot in the World Cup

In addition to the five players named to the Spain team, six more FC Barcelona players have been called up by their respective countries. Alex Song will feature for Cameroon in the all-important match against Tunisia for a spot in the World Cup. The match is scheduled for November 17 in Yaoundé.

Alves, Neymar with Brazil, Alexis with Chile

Alexis’ Chile will play two international friendlies next week. The forward will fly with his team to London on November 15 to play against England. On the 19th Chile will take on Brazil in Toronto. Meanwhile, Brazil have called up Alves and Neymar for the matches against Chile and Honduras.

Messi and Mascherano set to play for Argentina

Messi and Mascherano are set to return to the international stage as both players missed out on the last international break due to injury. Argentina will play two friendlies in the United States next week. Argentina will first face Ecuador in New Jersey on the 15th, and then on the 18th, Messi and Co. will take on Bosnia in St. Louis.
