In Finland on Wednesday, Doctor Sakari Orava performed surgery on the Belgian defender's semitendinosus muscle injury

First team player Thomas Vermaelen successfully underwent surgery this Wednesday on the semitendinosus muscle in his right hamstring. The operation was performed in Finland by Dr Sakari Orava and the recovery period is estimated at approximately four months.
The operation was announced on Thursday 27 November. The Belgian has yet to make his first team debut since being transferred to FC Barcelona from Arsenal, and has a contract with the Catalan club until June 30, 2019.
