Information for supporters travelling to Leverkusen

A series of recommendations for fans going to the Champions League game between Bayer Leverkusen and FC Barcelona at the BayArena

On Wednesday 9 December, FC Barcelona play their last game of the Champions League group stage, away to Bayer Leverkusen. Here’s some information that you’ll find useful if you’re going to the game at the BayArena.

Map of stadium zones

The BayArena is centrally located and can be quickly and easily reached from all directions. Due to the excellent public transport connections, we kindly ask you to use the bus and rail services on match days. A free shuttle bus service is also available (Wupsi). Your ticket for home games is also valid for transport on the Rhein-Sieg lines (2nd class) on the day of the match.

S-Bahn: Station Lev. Mitte or Lev. Küppersteg

Shuttles / Löwenlinie: Sportpark stop. Shuttle buses from Otto-Bayer-Str./S-Bahn station Bayerwerk, Löwenlinie from Opladen railway station

Bus line 207: In the direction of Rheindorf-Nord or Alt Steinbüchel every 20 to 30 minutes.

Bus line 222: In the direction of Bergisch Gladbach or Opladen every 20 to 30 minutes.

BayArena-Card

The stadium operates with its own pre-paid card (ByArena-Card), which is used for all purchases (food and drinks and other products). Cash is not accepted inside the stadium, so you will need to get one of these cards.

Visiting supporters can get a BayArena-Card inside the stadium by making a non-credit deposit of €10. You can charge the card with anything from 5 to 200 euros at different points inside the stadium.
After the game, you have two options: either return the BayArena-Card to get back your €10 and any unused credit, or keep the card as a souvenir.


Control and security

The gates open two hours before kick-off and fans are advised to get there as early as possible to get through security in good time.

Because of the strict security controls, spectators are asked not to bring backpacks, cases or large bags.

The Barça fans will be located in sectors GS1, GS2 and GS3, and must use the seats stipulated on their tickets.

Fireworks, knives, weapons and other dangerous objects, hooters, megaphones and electronic or mechanical sound devices are not allowed inside the stadium.

Flagpoles longer than 1.5 meters or flags with a diameter of more than 3 meters are not allowed inside the stadium. Sprays, glass bottles and similar objects or others made of especially hard materials are also prohibited.

No item may be brought into the stadium that includes racist, xenophobic or discriminatory messages or symbols, or any kind of radical propaganda or incitation of violence.
