Leo Messi shares Ballon d'Or award with 'everyone who follows me around the world'

In an interview with FIFA.COM, the world’s greatest player speaks about the past, present and future and especially his wonderful relationship with Neymar Jr and Luis Suárez

[[DES_1]]The fifth Ballon d’Or was the icing on the cake after a wonderful 2015 for Lionel Messi. The star of the team that won five out of six major trophies last year and who has been named best player in the world for an unprecedented fifth time, spoke to FIFA.COM about what it all means to him, about the amazing threesome he has formed alongside his colleagues and friends Neymar Jr and Luis Suárez and about the way the team just keeps on winning.

All kinds of rumours surrounded the Argentinian twelve months ago, but as the man himself says “anything can happen in football, and in a lot less than a year as well. I stayed calm the whole time, though. I always said that I was fine and that I was happy where I was. I just kept on that way and luckily it ended up being a very, very good year for us.”

Being asked about this latest award got him thinking back to 2009, when he won it for the first time. “A lot of things have changed” he comments. “I’ve grown and learned so much in football and in life. I’d just like to thank all the people who love me, who follow me in Barcelona, Argentina and around the world and I want to share this award with them.”Suárez is the best out-and-out forward there is in the game today

Asked about the world-beating trident, Messi comments that “I think it’s all down to the chemistry between the three of us, both on and off the pitch, and the type of people that we are too. We all want the best for the team, for the squad.”

Speaking more specifically about his two colleagues, on Neymar he says “I get on very well with Neymar. He’s said nice things about me ever since he arrived at the club. It makes me feel very happy to hear a friend and a colleague talk like that.”

He also has a wonderful relationship with Luis Suárez, and doesn’t hold back when describing the Uruguayan as “the best out-and-out forward there is in the game today.”
