The FC Barcelona athlete wins in a photo finish as three runners tie with the same time

FC Barcelona runner Ilias Fifa has won the 5,000 metre race at the European Track and Field Championships in Amsterdam. Fifa, of Moroccan origin, beat the Catalan runner Adel Mechaal and Richard Ringer of Germany in a photo finish that was needed to determine the winner.

Fifa took advantage of the absence of Mo Farah, who had been the reigning European 5,000m champion, as well as the fatigue that beset race favourite Hayle Ibrahimov to win with a great final sprint.

Fifa came to FC Barcelona in 2012 from the Catalonia Athletics Association and since joining the Club as improved his personal best in the 5,000m by more than 15 seconds.
