The defeat in the Champions League final against Arsenal in Lisbon was a bitter pill to swallow. But that doesn’t tarnish Barça Femení’s excellent European campaign, and UEFA has confirmed this by naming Aitana Bonmatí the best player of the 2024/25 edition of Europe’s top competition.

With this award, the Sant Pere de Ribes native earns her third straight honour, having also been chosen MVP in 2022/23 and 2023/24.

Despite losing the final and being unable to lift the trophy, the current Ballon d’Or’s European season was outstanding. Beyond driving much of Pere Romeu’s attack, she scored four goals and provided five assists.

Team of the Year

Bonmatí also makes the Champions League’s Team of the Season, where she’s joined by three teammates: Claudia Pina (the competition’s top scorer in 2024/25), Patri Guijarro and Mapi León.
