Barça Women's TikTok in top three globally after just one month
The figures place the blaugrana account on the podium alongside Manchester United and Mexican club Tigres, founded at the start of 2022 and 2020 respectively
The FC Barcelona women's team are the talk of the town at the moment, not just on the field but on social media also. On a sporting level, in the last few seasons they have dominated the domestic league and claimed the Champions League and now they are on their way to being champions of the small screen too.
On 28 March of this year the team launched an official TikTok account which has received a great reaction from the public all over the world. From statistics from the month of April, Barça are now in second place in terms of women's football teams with most followers having clocked up 557,000 since the opening of the channel. The blaugranes are only behind Manchester United on 717,000, the English club having launched their account in February of 2022. In third place come Mexican club Tigres with 264,000 followers.
Where the growth is evident is in the figures regarding total interactions and total views. In the former, despite being new to the platform, Barça are also in second place globally with 4.3 million, behind leaders Manchester United on 7.96 million with Tigres third on 2.95 million. In terms of overall views, Barça Women are third on 33.8 million, with Tigres second on 37.9 million and Manchester leaders on 82 million.
If we look at these stats in terms of the time the account has been available, then Barça is the clear winner as we can see.
This exponential growth on social media is not just confined to Barça Women. The Club's global TikTok account has recently shown Barça to the leader in views and interactions with more than 6 billion views in total. Meanwhile, the women's Twitter account is close to having a million followers.
Barça are well and truly the stars on the pitch and on the small screen at the moment.
