Results of last 16 games v Atlético at Camp Nou enough to see Barça through

These clubs have met in four different competitions since the 2006/07 season, and coupled with last week's 2-1 win in the first leg, any one of the outcomes would be enough to see Barça into another final

Today is the day that we’ll find out whether FC Barcelona will be playing in the Copa del Rey Final for the fourth consecutive season, and with a chance of becoming the first team in over half a century to lift the trophy three times in a row.

The 2-1 lead from the Vicente Calderón gives plenty of reasons for optimism, and in fact any of the last sixteen results at home to Atlético Madrid in all competitions would be enough to ensure passage to the final against Celta or Alavés.

Barça have won eleven and drawn five of the games played at home to the mattress-makers since Frank Rijkaard’s side toppled to 3-1 defeat in the 2005/06 season.

The league games have included a couple of especially big wins (6-1 in 2008/09 and 5-0 in 2011/12). But more recent encounters have tended to be much tighter. The sides drew 1-1 in the league earlier this season and the three previous Liga meetings were all decided by a solitary goal (1-0, 2-1 and 2-1)

Two-legged affairs between the teams have swung both ways. Although Barça beat the red-and-whites in the Spanish Super Cup of 2013/14 and the Copa del Rey in both 2008/09 and 2014/15, Diego Simeone led his team to Champions League wins in both 2013/14 and 2015/16.

Here’s a run-down of the last sixteen Barça v Atlético games in the Catalan capital::
