RIVAL WATCH: Juventus through to cup final, Málaga and Real Madrid win

Barça’s Champions League quarter final opponents are through to the Coppa Italia final, despite losing 3-2 on the night to Napoli

FC Barcelona’s Champions League quarter final opponents Juventus edged through to Coppa Italia final, despite losing 3-2 on the night to Napoli.

Massimo Allegri’s men looked to be cruising through when Gonzalo Higuain scored the opener against his former club, to make it 4-1 on aggregate. And even after Marek Hamsik levelled the score on the night soon after the restart, Higuain was again on hand to scupper Napoli’s hopes, making it 2-1 to Juve (5-2 agg.).

The home side turned the game around through Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne (3-2) but Juventus held out to take the tie 5-4 on aggregate.

Málaga win thanks to former Barça man

Before heading to Turin for Tuesday’s game against Juventus, Barça face Málaga in the league at La Rosaleda.

Playing away at Sporting Gijón, Málaga earned a vital three points thanks to a goal from former Barça striker Sandro Ramírez towards the end of the first half.

Luis Enrique’s men travel to the south of Spain on Saturday for the match that kicks off at 8.45pm CET.

Real Madrid regain top spot

Barça’s win had put Luis Enrique’s top of the table momentarily but Real Madrid quickly regained their place at the summit after beating Leganés 4-2.

Without Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale or Karim Benzema in the team, Real Madrid earned a comfortable win which moves them two points clear at the top with a game to spare.

James Rodríguez opened the scoring for Madrid and Álvaro Morata netted a brace to put Zinedine Zidane’s side 3-0 up in 23 minutes. The hosts were back in it shortly after with two quickfire goals before the break, but Morata completed his hat-trick early in the second period to secure the points.
