Hansi Flick's FC Barcelona can't stop beating records and the 3-1 win over Alavés at Spotify Camp Nou was the 34th game in a row in which they had scored at least one goal. That matches the achievement under Pep Guardiola from September 2010 to May 2011.
Not since December 15 of 2024, almost a whole year ago, did Barça last get shut out, by Leganés in a shock 1-0 defeat, when Barça had a frustratingly huge number of chances but couldn't tuck a single away while the visitors made the most of one of their few chances of their own. There are days when things just do not happen.
Pedri opens the run
But those days are rare for Barça. A week later Pedri gave the team a 1-0 lead against the same side they host next Tuesday, Atlético Madrid. Sadly, although Barça deserved to go on and capitalise on the early goal, they ended up losing a third consecutive game at home, 2-1, but nevertheless put that freak run of losses behind them to ultimately lift the league trophy.
15 scorers
And they did that by scoring goals, goals and more goals. These have been shared between what was left of last season and the games played so far in the present one by Lewandowski (19), Ferran (14), Raphinha (10), Fermín (10), Lamine Yamal (9), Olmo (8), Araújo (3), Pedri (3), Eric (3), Rashford (2), Koundé (2), Casadó (1), Gavi (1), Gerard Martín (1) and De Jong (1).
Moving up the ranking
Barça need to score in just two more games to equal the fourth best run, also under Guardiola, of 35 games between 2008 and 2009. The third best record of 36 goes back further in time, to the era of Juan José Nogués from 1942 to 1944.
The second longest run isn't too far off either. That was the 37 games under Ernesto Valverde between 2018 and 2019.
