A big February ahead for FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona have just two games at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys this month, both in La Liga, as well as two on the road. And they will also be heading to Italy for the first leg of their Champions League last sixteen clash with Napoli. Let's take a closer look at what the second month of the year has in store for us...
Alavés v Barça, February 3
Following the 1-0 win over Osasuna on Wednesday, just three days later the team are back in Liga action as they try to make up lost ground on the front two in the title chase. They're off to Mendizorroza, home of mid-table Alavés, who they beat earlier this season at Montjuic, but had to come from behind to do it.
Barça v Granada, February 11
A week later Barça are back at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, where the guests will be Granada, who are currently second from bottom in the table. Surprisingly, however, Barça have failed to win any of their last four meetings with the Andalusians.
Celta Vigo v Barça, February 17
After that, it's another road trip, this time to Vigo, where Celta are not having the best of seasons. But Barça have a history of struggling when they go to Balaídos, and although they beat Celta in the home fixture earlier this season, it required a majestic late comeback from trailing 2-0.
Napoli v Barça, February 21
Arguably the biggest game of the month, where Barça are back in the Champions League knockout stage after missing out in the previous two seasons. Napoli are Serie A champions, although their current campaign isn't going anything like as well, and the Catalans have generally had the upper hand in the several meetings between the teams in recent years.
Barça v Getafe, February 24
The months ends back at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, this time against the side from Madrid who are having a fairly ordinary season, but who always provide tough, solid opposition.
