Talent and class in midfield

Gerard López joined Barça as a member of the U19 squad before leaving in 1997 to sign for Valencia. After appearing in the 2000 Champions League final for los che, López returned to Barça in 2001 where he spent five seasons with the first team. 

With an abundance of talent and class in midfield, Gerard López came to Barça as part of the U19 squad before making the leap to Barça Atlètic where he made 32 appearances, scoring 10 goals. In 1997 López made the move to Valencia in search of first team football and in 2000 he was in the team's starting XI in the Champions League final against Real Madrid. In 2001 he returned to Barça under coach Llorença Serra Ferrer. Over five seasons he made 135 appearances for the first team, scoring nine goals and winning the league title in 2004/05. 

In the summer of 2005 López signed for Monaco followed by spells at Recreativo de Huelva and Girona before retiring in 2011 at the age of 32.

Gerard López made six appearances for Spain, scoring twice.
