FC Barcelona held the official inauguration ceremony of its new temporary Ice Rink on Friday, a facility that has been operational since early May and has allowed both the return of sporting activities for the Club's ice sports teams and athletes, as well as recreational offerings for the general public.

The event took place at the new facilities located in the Les Corts district and was attended by institutional representatives from FC Barcelona, Barcelona City Council, and the University of Barcelona. The inauguration was led by FC Barcelona president Rafael Yuste. Also present were the Barcelona City Council's Sports Councillor, David Escudé, and the rector of the University of Barcelona, Joan Guàrdia. The mascot CAT was also in attendance, lending its energy and festive spirit to the occasion.

Although the rink opened its doors in early May and is already hosting training sessions, competitions, and public activities, the Club wanted to hold this institutional event to officially present the new facilities and share the moment with the city's main institutions, the sporting community, and groups connected to sports on ice.

The day began with an official group photo of the representatives present and the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a guided tour of the new facilities, during which attendees were able to explore the different spaces and services offered by the venue.

Afterwards, at the center of the rink, the institutional speeches took place. First, Barcelona City Council's Sports Councillor, David Escudé, highlighted the contribution of the new facility to enhancing Barcelona's sporting reach and promoting sports on ice among the public.

Next, the rector of the University of Barcelona, Joan Guàrdia, emphasised the value of sport as a tool for education and personal development, as well as the importance of strengthening partnerships between the city's academic and sporting institutions.

Finally, FC Barcelona president Rafael Yuste underlined the Club's determination to continue promoting all its sports sections and to provide them with the necessary facilities to ensure their growth, competitiveness, and place within the community.

The event continued with a group photo featuring the participating athletes, a figure skating exhibition, and several mini ice hockey matches involving the Club's ice hockey players, showcasing the sporting potential of a facility set to become a benchmark for sports on ice in Catalonia.

With this official opening, FC Barcelona reaffirms its commitment to promoting sport in all disciplines and strengthens a strategic facility for the development of ice hockey and figure skating in the city of Barcelona. This venue, part of the Espai Barça project, reinforces the Club's positioning in the promotion of sports on ice, expands the city's range of sports facilities, and also becomes a new source of revenue for the organisation.
