As is customary given the loyal commitment to Catalonia, FC Barcelona have made a floral offering at the monument of Rafael Casanova. The Club was represented as an institution on the National Day of Catalonia in commemoration of the commander in chief and symbol of resistance for freedom for Catalonia.

President Joan Laporta led the blaugrana representatives, accompanied by other Board of Director members in first vice president of the sporting area Rafael Yuste, vice president of the institutional area Elena Fort, secretary for the Board of Directors and director responsible for basketball Josep Cubells, director responsible for the social area Josep Ignasi Macià, director responsible for futsal Aureli Mas, director responsible for handball Joan Solé, and board members Miquel Camps and Sisco Pujol.

Club sportspersons out in force

The sporting side of the Club was also represented well, including new men's football first team goalkeeper Joan Garcia, and coach Pere Romeu, second captain Marta Torrejón, and player Laia Aleixandri from the women's football first team. When it comes to basketball, team ambassador Audie Norris, coach Joan Peñarroya and player Joel Parra were all present. The handball representatives were sporting coordinator Joan Marin and captain Dika Mem. Representing futsal were Jordi Torras, coach Javi Rodríguez and captain Dídac Plana. Roller hockey were represented by sporting coordinator Gaby Cairo, coach Ricard Ares and captain Sergi Fernández.

The Club delegation also featured representatives from youth football, including the players Marc Márquez, Aran Puig, Mariona Cepero and Carla Abello, and the Barça Genuine Foundation team were there, led by their director Sergi Panadero, who was joined by the players Jaume Ortal and Laura Zaragoza. The Barça Players Association Jugadores were also represented on La Diada by their president Juan Manuel Asensi and vice president Pere Valentí.

The Board of Directors I have the honour of chairing will always defend Catalan culture, an authentic, open and integrating Catalan culture. Because we insist on remaining true to our core foundations that help provide understanding and keep the ‘more than a club’ spirit alive.”
