Barça launches #CulersAtHome section of its website with activities to do under lockdown

Club and some of its partners create digital contents with activities to enjoy at home, from training routines to recipes, and even recommended reading and movies to help make the days at home more amenable

FC Barcelona has launched a new website called #CulersAtHome, a new section in which different contents and proposed activities will be published that fans will be able to do while they are at home, and all of which are designed to keep them healthy and active while confined in their houses as they help to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The club has set up the scheme in collaboration with various partners and some of its strategic departments, such as the Barça Innovation Hub, to ensure that members and fans are well stocked up with activities, actions and recommendations for sport, health and culture, all designed to make sure they make the best use of the time under lockdown.

By creating this new website section, FC Barcelona has moved even further ahead with its #CulersAtHome programme that started on its social networks right at the start of the state of alarm, encouraging users to take challenges, answer surveys and play games that are all related to their passion for the team.

The importance of healthy eating

Good eating is an essential part of the routine not just for top athletes but for people in general too. Hence Barça, through the nutritionists that work with the Barça first team and the experts from BIHUB, have teamed up with Beko to produce a series of recipes that will be published on the website, including some of the players’ own favourite dishes. The first will be the one picked by Gerard Piqué, the ambassador of Eat Like a Pro, the programme launched together with the household appliance manufacturer to combat youth obesity. The recipes will be published as videos and will also come in written form, with full details of the ingredients required and their nutritional properties, and instructions for how to make them.

Both the recipes and workouts also give fans the chance to share their results, showing how they have performed in the exercises or how their cooking has turned out by using the #CulersAtHome hashtag on social networks.

A new training routine

The exercises that fans will find in this new space include a series of training sessions created by Barça and Nike. BIHUB and the FC Barcelona Performance Area have joined forces to develop different recommendations for working the body, which are inspired by the kind of exercises that the players do at the club and are adapted especially for fans at home. Joe Holder, Nike Master Trainer, presents the videos and guides users with exercises based on strength, coordination and stability.

In order to do these and any other sporting activity well, it is important to keep the body well hydrated. Therefore, BIHUB in association with Gatorade and its Gatorade Sports Science Institute are complementing the exercises with a series of different recommendations to ensure proper hydration when doing these exercises and getting the best results before and after doing sport.

Best books and movies as recommended by the players

The new website section, and thanks to the collaboration of Rakuten, will also be offering reading and movie suggestions made by such first team players as Ivan Rakitic, Sergi Roberto, Martin Braithwaite and Frenkie de Jong during their live chats on FC Barcelona’s official YouTube channel.

The idea is to offer Barça fans new and different ideas for spending their time during lockdown.

FutbolNet methodology at home

Finally, the club has also realised that boys and girls confined to their homes are spending a long time without going to school and not being able to play with their friends. So, the Barça Foundation has also joined the #CulersAtHome programme with a series of collaborative games applying the FutbolNet methodology that can be enjoyed at home. The methodologists at the Foundation have adapted their activities especially for doing at home, but as ever working on the values offered by sport.

Likewise, the Barça Foundation has set up a new site https://fundacio.fcbarcelona.cat/barcacovid19 to provide information about all of the activities being run or to be set up in forthcoming weeks to support the fight against the spread of COVID19. This site, as well as the Foundation and the club’s social networks, are also being used to promote fund raising and material collection campaigns organised by organisations and institutions that partner with the Barça Foundation.
