Estadi Johan Cruyff, where dreams are made

It is a modern, efficient and functional facility with capacity for 6,000 spectators, and is the new home of Barça B, Barça Women and the U19A team for their UEFA Youth League fixtures

The Estadi Johan Cruyff is the most iconic facility in the Ciutat Esportiva, and a living tribute to a Barça legend who was one of the biggest supporters of the Club's commitment to youth football and the style of play that FC Barcelona has become renowned for.

The architectual design by Batlle i Roig Arquitectes is for a modern, efficient and functional stadium with the capacity for 6,000 spectators. The design is asymmetrical, with the mainstand taller than the others, yet maintaining a sense of unity.

Professional academy football stadium

The Estadi Johan Cruyff is the new home of Barça B, the Barça Women's Team, and also the U19A Team when it plays in European competitions, for it has been granted UEFA Category 3 Status for hosting games in the UEFA Youth League and UEFA Women's Champions League. It is also approved by the LFP for hosting matches in the Spanish Second Division.

Main features

• Modern and efficient venue with capacity for 6,000 spectators.

• A characteristic asymmetric design, composed of a grandstand second tier (1,000 spectators), a lower tier (5,000 spectators) and a built-in roof that creates a powerful identity inspired by old pitch at carrer Indústria.

• The stadium has a 360º bowl, which seats spectators around the whole perimeter and generates a strong sense of unity.

• The curved corners create the utmost proximity between spectators and players, helping them blend together as one.

• Excellent visibility from every seat, meeting the standards expected of a modern-day football stadium.

• 700 car-parking spaces.

An innovative stadium

The Estadi Johan Cruyff is built in accordance with smart stadium criteria following sustainability and energy efficiency requirements. The stadium employs a Building Management System (BMS) which is being implemented with BIM technology. The building is connected with the Ciutat Esportiva via an underground technical gallery and the city of SantJoan Despí on the ground level. The stadium incorporates the latest technologies in scoreboards, seats, pitch design and LED lighting.

Floodlighting

The lighting system uses LED technology, which is a major innovation in the sports field, with FC Barcelona being one of the first teams in Europe to use such a system in one of its stadium. The use of LED floodlights allows.

• Fulfilment of the growing demands from television in terms of the quality and intensity of lighting for sports broadcasts given the enormous output of the lighting elements. It also enhances the broadcasting of slow motion images thanks to a flicker-free lighting technology.

• Flexibility to put on different types of shows, with the capacity to integrate lighting and sound to create and immersive experience for Barça fans.

• Improve the sustainability of teh infrastructure thanks to its low energy consumption and high sensivity to peaks in energy demand during events.

Seats

The 6,000 first class seats feature a most innovative design. They are ergonomic, and whether being used or not their blue colour enhances the aesthetics of the Estadi Johan Cruyff by combining with the red of the building to create the iconic 'blaugrana' feel. The wellow seats spell out the club motto, MÉS QUE UN CLUB, in the stands.

Pitch

FC Barcelona selected a Catalan company for such an important element of the Estadi Johan Cruyff, namely the innovative system of braided turf. Based on the ever-functional sod method, this system significantly improves performance by braiding sheets of synthetic fibre to natural grass, thus making it stronger and more deeply rooted, as well as making it much more resistant to heavy use, even in adverse weather conditions.
