The Barça Lassa player reached the milestone at the Ülker Sports Arena, against Fenerbahce, and he is the first player in the competition's history to achieve this remarkable feat

Juan Carlos Navarro has done it again. This time he has reached the milestone of 4,000 Euroleague points. The Catalan is the first player to have achieved this and his new record will be hard to overtake. The closest player to him is the Greek Vassilis Spanoulis who is currently on 3,276 points.

The four-points Navarro scored against Fenerbahce at the Ülker Sports Arena helped him reach the figure in his 319th game in the European competition. The 36-year-old has played in the Euroleague for 16 seasons, with the 2007-08 season being the only one he missed as he was playing in the NBA. Over this time, he has won the Euroleague in 2003 and in 2010 as well as collecting personal accolades such as the competition’s MVP in 2009 and the MVP award in the 2010 final.

He has also made more appearances than anyone else with a total of 319 games under his belt. Moreover, he has the most baskets with 1292. With these statistics to his name, it isn’t surprising that Navarro has been included in the Euroleauge’s best five players for five different seasons.

"I am proud to be the first”

The Barça Lassa captain spoke following the Fenerbahce game: “I am partially happy as we were in a good position to win the game. It has been a difficult season and we haven’t been able to make it into the play-offs so I am not completely satisfied.”

However, he added, “it is an important achievement, I am proud to have made it this far and to have been the first to do this.” On the subject of his closest rival Spanoulis, Navarro said: “He is a player who still plays a lot and he is younger than me. When I stop playing he will continue but I will try and score more points next season.”
