22-year-old Catalan has played 54 games for the senior team this season
Barça and Sergi Martínez have reached an agreement to renew the Catalan small forward’s contract for three seasons through to 30 June 2024.
The player joined the club when he was only nine, and rose through the ranks to Barça B, playing 136 games in the LEB Or and LEB Plata.
He made his senior team debut in 2019/20, but it is in the season just ended that he really made the breakthrough, playing 54 games, including 28 in the Liga Endesa and 26 in the EuroLeague, and winning the domestic league and cup double.
Statement by Sergi Martínez
“This is a dream come true for me. I am part of the team I love. I thank them so much for entrusting me with a further three years.”
To start from the bottom and go all the way up to the first team is a dream for any child who feels the Barça colours. I feel very identified with Barça, not many people have joined so young and got to play for the first team.”
“It all started thanks to my grandfather. I owe it all to him. My love for Barça began with him. I hope to keep fighting and to make my family happy and proud.”
I want to thank Saras because it isn’t easy to put so much faith in young players at a club like this and with all the competitions we play in. In thank him from the bottom of my heart because none of this would have been possible without him.”
“Saras was very sincere with me and said he expected me to be a solid player, to help the team and to always be a part.”
