Squad announcement for trip to Rome

Ernesto Valverde to take 21 players with him for the second leg of the Champions League quarter finals against the Italian team

After beating Leganés 3-1 and equalling the record 38 fixtures without defeat in La Liga, FC Barcelona turn their attention to the return leg of the Champions League quarter finals. The game is at 8.45pm CET on Tuesday and Valverde’s men are looking to defend their 4-1 advantage from the first leg at the Camp Nou.

The manager Ernesto Valverde is not able to call on the injured Lucas Digne and the unavailable Coutinho, who played in the competition with Liverpool. Therefore, the final squad list of 21 is the following: Ter Stegen, Cillessen, A. Ortolá (31), N. Semedo, Piqué, I. Rakitic, Sergio, Denis Suárez, A. Iniesta, Suárez, Messi, O. Dembélé, Paulinho, Paco Alcácer, Jordi Alba, S. Roberto, André Gomes, Aleix Vidal, Umtiti, Yerry Mina and Vermaelen.

Final preparations

Before the squad was announced, the available first team players worked out on the Tito Vilanova pitch. The preparatory session is the last in Barcelona as the squad will travel to Rome on Monday morning. Sergio Busquets worked out on his own and the starting eleven from Saturday took part in a recovery session. Barça B’s Ortolá, Aleñá, C. Pérez, Martínez, R. Tarín and Morer also took part on Sunday.
