FC Barcelona are the only side in LaLiga with a 100 per cent record after Real Sociedad are beaten on home turf by Real Madrid, who are now fourth

FC Barcelona are two points clear at the top of the Liga table after the only other team with a 100 per cent record, Real Sociedad, lost 3-1 at home to Real Madrid on Sunday evening.

Borja Mayoral and Gareth Bale scored first and third for the visitors, with an own goal in between, but despite victory, the defending champions are still four points behind leaders Barça after four games.

Sevilla move up to second with a win at Girona, who Barça visit next weekend.

But before that, Barça entertain Eibar on Tuesday at 10.00pm CET (TICKETS). The Basques have had an extra day to rest after playing their fixture against Leganés on Friday night. That game that produced their second win of the season thanks to an Álex Gálvez header after 53 minutes.

“Were going to the Camp Nou on Tuesday and we know what we’re going to find there” said coach José Luis Mendiliba after the match. “It would not have been ideal to have to go to Barcelona with just three points.”

Champions League round-up

Around Europe, it was another positive weekend for Barça’s Champions league rivals Juventus and Sporting Lisbon, who both maintained their 100 per cent records.

The Italians bounced back from 3-0 defeat at the Camp Nou by winning 3-1 at Sassuolo, Paulo Dybala scoring all three goals.

In the Portuguese capital, former FCB man Jeremy Mathieu got the first and Bruno Fernandes got the second as Sporting beat Tondela 2-0.

Olympiacos were the only Group D side not to win this weekend, and would have suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Asteras Tripolis had a last-minute Uros Djurdjevic penalty not salvaged a point.
