FC Barcelona’s US tour has come to an end. The first team said goodbye to the United States with a 3-2 victory in the Miami Clásico. This was their third victory in a row and it meant the blaugranas are winners of the International Champions Cup. The match against Real Madrid was full of intensity and Barça got off to a stunning start as they found themselves 2-0 up after seven minutes. Even though Real Madrid were able to level the scores before half-time, the blaugranas managed to win the game with a Piqué goal in the second-half.

Ernesto Valverde discussed the match in the press conference and said “the Clásico is a reference ahead of the Spanish Super Cup.” However, later on he conceded that he is aware it will be a different proposition. Valverde added that even though it was a friendly, “there are no friendlies against Real Madrid”. He also congratulated his players on their “good attitude and effort despite the heat and humidity in the Hard Rock Stadium.” The manager explained that “his team has trained very well for the game and I was happy with what I saw in terms of play and controlling the game and we had lots of opportunities to extend our lead.”

Moreover, the Barça coach highlighted “the fantastic welcome Barça got in Miami” proving the international reach the Club has. Valverde finished by saying his team repaid the US support with their good football on the pitch: “We have seen the great performances of these players, especially Messi who is extraordinary.” Before stating that “our objectives for this year is to win everything we can.”
