Ernesto Valverde was more than happy with his side’s performance in the second leg of their last 32 tie against Murcia. The Barça boss was delighted with the 5-0 win and also with the “excellent attitude shown during the game.”

“In this type of game you try and avoid surprises and the best way to do it is to play with pace and dynamism. Both in the first leg and in the second leg we were good in that aspect and having got through to the last 16 leaves a pleasant taste in our mouths,” said Valverde after goals from Alcácer, Piqué, Aleix Vidal, Denis Suárez and one from the B team striker Arnaiz.

The coach was particularly pleased to highlight the contribution of the players form Gerard López’s squad. Midfielder Oriol Busquets was in the starting XI and the Barça boss thinks “he can help us a lot even though he is still very young.” Another debutant was David Costas who for Valverde “can brings something when needed due to his experience whilst Arnaiz scored his third goal in two matches for the first team and Carles Aleñá again enjoyed an opportunity.

To conclude, Valverde also thanks the 68,775 fans who came to Camp Nou on the day of the 7th Members Solidarity Day. “The attendance is something I think is really positive. These games often don’t attract that many people so the Club has been doing this for years. There was a great atmosphere, a festive one and that’s great, especially if we score a few and win as well.”
