Group stage home displays the blueprints for PSG showdown

Luis Enrique’s men have won their three matches at the Camp Nou in the Champions League this season, scoring 15 and conceding zero

FC Barcelona’s Champions League last-16 second leg against PSG is fast-approaching and while the task of overturning the 4-0 deficit seems too tall of an order, the team’s home performances in this season’s campaign provide reason to be hopeful.

Barça breezed through the group stages, winning five out of their six games and, as well as impressive wins on the road against Borussia Mönchengladbach and Celtic, it was the three home matches that really stood out.

Luis Enrique’s men started the campaign at the Camp Nou with a 7-0 demolition of Celtic, followed by a 4-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the next home match and ended the group stages with a 4-0 win over 'Gladbach.

Scoring 15 times and conceding none, either of the three results would be enough to either force extra-time or seal qualification in 90 minutes.

Interestingly, while a fast start is thought to be key to Barca’s hopes against PSG, eleven out of the 15 goals scored at the Camp Nou in the groups came in the second period.

The team’s ability to keep the door shut at one end, combined with devastating efficiency at the other is exactly what is required against the French giants, and Barça will be looking to use the three prior home displays as blueprints for Wednesday night’s showdown.
