FC Barcelona v Sevilla: Did you know?

FC Barcelona v Sevilla: Did you know?

A round of facts and stats in the build-up to Wednesday's clash between second and third in LaLiga (7.30pm CET)

Four out of four?: Barça have already beaten Sevilla in both legs of the Spanish Super Cup this season, and also won 2-1 at the Sánchez Pizjuán in LaLiga.

Positive record: Since tumbling to 3-0 home defeat in 2002, Barça have won eleven, drawn two and lost none of their games with the Andalusians at Camp Nou. Home or away, Barça have only lost one of their last 19 league meetings with the Andalusians, 2-1 in October 2015.

Messi magic: The Argentinian has scored 27 career goals against Sevilla (he’s only scored more against Atlético Madrid), and has found the target in all five of the most recent clashes.

Sevilla making a point: The visitors have hit something of all lull in form after failing to win any of their last five competitive fixtures. All the same, over the last decade they have not reached the 29th week of LaLiga with a tally of more than the 58 points they have now.

Wins all the way for Luis Enrique: As a manager, the Asturian has never experienced anything but wins at home to Sevilla, and that’s not just as Barça boss but in his Celta days as well. And those include his last two tastes of silverware – the Copa del Rey final last season and the Spanish Super Cup at the start of the present one.

Familiar faces: Plenty of members of the Barça staff have a past at Sevilla. Assistant manager Unzué was a goalkeeper at the Andalusian club from 1990-97, Ivan Rakitic played there for four years, winning the Europa League, as did Denis Suárez the year after. Aleix Vidal is yet another connection, although his serious ankle injury means he won’t be facing his former colleagues.

More associations: Other players to have recently made the move from the Sánchez Pizjuán to the Camp Nou are Alves, Adriano and Keita, while Prosinecki and Estebaranz travelled the other way. Not forgetting the likes of Saviola, Deulofeu and Cáceres, who have also worn both shirts.
