There’s no time for rest at FC Barcelona. Just twelve hours after events concluded at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night, with a place in Friday’s Copa del Rey quarter final draw secured thanks to a 4-3 aggregate defeat of Athletic Club, the players were back at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper to start getting ready for the visit of UD Las Palmas on Saturday at 4.15pm CET.

After some blustery workouts over the last few days, the temperature of 16º C was somewhat warmer on Thursday morning and the winter sun was shining down on pitch number two, where the first team regulars were joined by a couple of faces from Barça B: Carles Aleñá and Alex Carbonell.

Naturally the mood was buoyant after putting two setbacks behind them and chalking up the first win of what will surely be many more in 2017. The league was naturally the main focus today, but no doubt the players will also have an eye on events in tonight’s three remaining Copa del Rey matches, where Barça will be finding out who’ll be joining themselves Alavés, Real Sociedad, Alcorcón and Atlético Madrid in the last eight.
