Andrés Iniesta: 'We are not afraid of anybody, but we do have a lot of respect for them'

Barça's captain spoke about the team's current situation at an event and he expressed a preference for a non-Spanish rival ahead of the draw for the Champions League quarter finals

FC Barcelona captain, Andrés Iniesta, spoke about discussed the Champions League, his contract renewal and this season’s objectives. Iniesta highlighted how “we are not afraid of any rival but we do have a lot of respect for all of them”. The Spaniard added: “I would prefer to avoid the Spanish teams, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, as both ties would take a lot out of us and be very tough.”

Concerning the Champions League draw, Iniesta said: “Whoever we get it will be a great tie as all the teams in the quarter finals are very strong. We will try and keep progressing in the competition.” On the amazing comeback against PSG he added it: “It was one of the best moments I have had in my career, a magical night for all blaugranas.”

The Barça captain discussed his contract renewal: “At the moment I am focused on the three competitions, in the future we will look at it properly. I have always stated my dream is to retire at Barça. There won’t be any problems, I think I can still deliver.”

Finally, Iniesta has emphasized how Barça are still in three competitions: “Now I want to focus on what we can do. We are on a positive run of form and the results have been good except at Riazor. We are hopeful of winning trophies.”
