Celtic FC 1-4 FC Barcelona: Five wins out of five

A brace from Jordi Mboula and two more from Guillemenot and Dani García maintain the U19 team's 100 per cent record in the competition

That’s 15 points out of 15 in the UEFA Youth League after Wednesday’s 4-1 win for the U19s over Celtic FC at Cappielow Park. Two from Jordi Mboula and one each for Guillemenot and Dani García did the trick in a game in which Gabri García fielded his strongest side despite qualification being assured even before the game had started.

Strong start

Barça powered into the game, and had put three goals past their Scottish hosts before the half-time interval. Mboula converted the first from a tight angle, squeezing the ball between keeper and post after just seven minutes. The same player also claimed the second, following a wonderful turn-and-volley off a Mingueza assist.

That was after 36 minutes, and there was still room for one more before the break as Guillemenot as good as sealed the three points with a powerful drive, the assist coming from the omnipresent Mboula.

Barça have a tough schedule this month, so eased things in the second half, but did add one more to their account, the work of Dani García following a fine solo run.

Aitchison pulled back a late header for the Celts, but it was scant consolation for a side that now has no hope of advancing to the next round.

FC Barcelona will now close out Group C at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach, where another win would secure an impressive maximum 18 points going into the knockout stages.
