A very tough game for Barça against Hockey Club Liceo ultimately ended in defeat. The team fought to the end, however, creating good chances despite the 1-0 result. That's the second loss in a row after defeat against Porto on Thursday at the Palau Blaugrana, as today was a chance to reclaim top spot in the league from Liceo themselves.

No goals

The blaugranes looked dangerous from the outset and were clearly intent on attacking. Alabart tried several shots, some whistling past the post, with others saved by the home side keeper. Àlex Ortigosa also came on to add freshness and bring more energy.

Marc Grau created some of the clearest chances, especially in the second half chance, almost opening the scoring several times. Barroso also tried the element of surprise with long shots, while Eloi Cervera also had efforts, testament to the team constantly applying pressure to their opponents.

Late goal tips the balance

However, Liceo struck despite Barça's best efforts at the other end. Bruno Saavedra scored a goal in the 48th minute to make it 1-0, and despite the team reacting well through a powerful Barroso shot that Blai Roca saved, the blaugranes couldn't tie up the game. Ultimately Barça were edged out and the loss means they fall behind in the race for top spot in the table.
