Once his contract ends on 30 June 2026, Pablo Álvarez is set to leave Barça. The Argentinian will say goodbye to FC Barcelona after two spells in blaugrana, from 2011 to 2021 and 2024 to 2026 respectively.
39-year-old ‘Pablito’ joined Barça aged just 24 years old and has become one of the highest goalscorers for the team in Club history. His personal trophy haul with Barça includes four Golden Balls (top scorer), a Copa del Rey MVP (2016) and 34 titles, with still a chance to increase that total at the end of the season.
The blaugrana number seven has scored 607 goals for Barça to date in all competitions. Out-of-this-world numbers that he has also managed in the OK Liga domestic league competition (431 with Barça and 172 with Deportivo Liceo). Undoubtedly a legendary player who still has plenty of the season ahead to continue delighting the fans at the Palau.
In fact, the Argentinian wanted to make the most of the opportunity to send a message to the fans, in the knowledge that these will be his final months at a place he considers is his home.
Pablo Álvarez's message for the blaugrana fans
Dear Culers,
I have had the best years of my sports career here. I have celebrated goals, a lot of goals... over 600 defending such a great badge...
I have laughed, I have cried, I have shared the best moments with many colleagues, both players and members of staff, who have ended up friends...
I have seen my children Vale and Matt grow up here, the most important people in my life... alongside my wife and family.
I have also won many titles, but more than anything, I have always felt your warmth strongly.
That's why I want to tell you that my contract ends in June and I won't be wearing the Barça colours next season.
I still don't know what will happen next. What I do know is that all the moments experienced in this club have been worth it. The Palau will always be my home. I will always be grateful for you making me feel at home and for all the support, particularly Sang Culé and PBB Meritxell.
What I want now is to continue enjoying every second to the full, to continue scoring goals and I hope to be able to lift all the trophies we can still strive for, together.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH, MUCH LOVE TO YOU, THE FANS!
